The Fast Company Magazine, Feb. 2004, USA. "The Fast Fifty Award" was given to 50 personalities from around the world who are able to influence the political, economic and social environments.

Outstanding Social Entrepreneur, Feb. 2002 - given by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, from Geneva, Switzerland, as a way of certifying social entrepreneurs for the excellence of their undertakings. The award was delivered at the first global event of selection and certification of social entrepreneurs at the World Economic Forum held in New York, USA.

Personality in Technology 2001, in the field of rural electrification, awarded in December by the Sao Paulo State Engineers Sindicate, in Brazil.

Award of Appreciation, Dec. 2001, given by the United States Embassy and United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Energy Program.
